What is a Modbar? The espresso bar with nothing in the way
North India’s first Modbar sits on our counter on Tonk Road. Here is what it is, why the machinery hides under the counter, and what that changes for the person drinking the coffee.

Walk up to most café counters and the first thing you meet is the back of a big espresso machine. At Taffeta, there is nothing in the way. Above the counter you will see a slim chrome tap and your cup. Everything else — boilers, pumps, the plumbing — sits underneath.
Modular, by design
A Modbar is a modular brewing system: espresso, steam and pour-over modules are separate taps on the bar, each connected to its own equipment below the counter. Because the bulk of the machine is out of sight, the bar becomes an open table between you and the barista.
Why it matters in your cup
- Precision temperature control — every shot is pulled at the temperature the beans need.
- Custom grind settings — the grind is dialled to the coffee on the roasting shelf that day.
- An interactive brewing experience — you can watch every step, from the grind to the pour.
- Expert barista guidance — and ask the person making it anything you like.
North India’s first
Taffeta brought the first Modbar to North India. Pull up a stool at the bar, order an espresso, and ask the team to talk you through what is in the grinder today.
